BOX UP COMPOSITE REPAIR
Location
Singapore
Technical Details
Material Carbon Steel (CS) Pipe Medium Condenser Water Pressure 10 Bar / 145 psi Temperature Room Temperature
Technical Challenges
The company requires a preventive solution to address leaks in an existing 40-inch butterfly valve. Due to space constraints, modifications may be necessary to accommodate any structural obstructions near the valve or affected areas before executing the composite repair.
The box-up will require additional structural support to bear the weight and load of the cured product. Moreover, the removal of the box-up with the composite product must be completed within a limited time frame, while also considering the heat generated from the large volume of the curing material.
Technical Solutions
Initial site survey to analyze the repair area and to get the dimensional data.
Design and calculate the suitable box up and the product as per the collected data.
Prefabricate the box up along with the structure support required. Properly install over the affected area.
Make sure all edges are sealed, tightened, and secured properly without any gaps. Fill in with Fix N Fast Metal Repair Putty Ensure the inner box up is filled. Leave it to cure for 24hrs.
After cured, remove the box up without damaging the cured product. Check the outer surface of the cured (product)
IF found to have any cracks use the same products to patch it up. For integrity and additional reinforcement apply carbon fiber along with the layer of liquid putty and leave it to cure.
